Bicycle Hire and Sales

We have cycles to suit all abilities from tandems, trailers, tag-a-longs and trikes, to mountain bikes, hybrids and even a wheel chair tandem.
The Dawes hybrids offer the comfort of a tourer and the performance of a mountain bike, with plenty of gears and with mudguards to keep splashes away.

The Dawes Mountain Bikes, for rough riding and steep climbs, have no mudguards but masses of gears, so you'll be able to explore the far reaches of the trail.

We have a range of bikes for children who have mastered two wheels and for those that haven't we have the Tag-a-longs (left), trikes, buggies and child seats.

The buggie/trailers can carry two children and have room in the back for a picnic.




We also have a wheelchair tandem available (left) to ensure that all cycle outings are more inclusive.

Conditions of Hire

PROOF OF IDENTITY IS ESSENTIAL, such as a drivers licence, bankers card, passport etc. This will be retained for the duration of the hire.
LOSS OR DAMAGE is the customer's responsibility.
PAYMENT by cash or credit/debit card.

Cycle the Tarka Trail

Come and cycle the Tarka trail, with all your family and friends. Following the old railway line safe from the dangers of traffic, through tranquil Tarka country. The trail is a level and traffic free cycle way cutting through Devon's beautiful countryside. We have free car parking and private access onto the trail, offering 34 miles of safe traffic free cycling.

Take a picnic or visit one of the many pubs on route to enjoy the local produce. The route north follows the Torridge estuary, soon coming to the village of Instow. Stop here for lunch or laze on the beach and gaze across to the historic fishing port of Appledore.

The trail continues on towards Barnstaple, following the taw estuary past fields, marsh and a wild life reserve, a bird watchers paradise. The trail south is totally different as at first it follows the valley of the river Torridge, from side to side through the woods and a tunnel, crossing the weir, until reaching Torrington station. Onwards from here the trail climbs gently through the sheltering woods to East Yarde. For the cycling enthusiast with lots of energy remaining you can carry on to Meeth Holt.

Surf Board Hire and Sales

We offer a selection of NCS soft tops/slick bottom surfboards (foamies) for hire or sale. These boards are great fun and an excellent choice for the beginner to get to grips with the basics as they are very stable and buoyant. The design of the board also offers the scope for the beginner to progress quickly as your confidence and skills grow.

For the beginner to intermediate we have a range of NSP epoxy boards for hire and sale. NSP boards are the real deal, offering strength, responsiveness, light weight construction and they are proven to perform as well as boards twice their price.

Body boards are available for those who want some fun in the surf without needing any experience and don't forget the all important wet suits to fit all sizes if required. We even offer soft roof racks making it easy to transport your boards to the beach.

'Sit-on' Kayak Hire

Take a kayak for a leisurely paddle up the Torridge estuary towards the iron bridge at Landcross. Enjoy the peace and beauty of Devon's countryside from a different perspective. The sit on kayaks are very stable and buoyant, ideal for the beginner to experience the fun of paddling on open water.

Tek, a leader in rotomoulding technology and with 25 years experience in kayak design have developed this stylish, functional, safe and fun to use sit-on kayak. The chined hull with sturdy, deep keel gives good directional stability whilst being very stable and easy to paddle.
